Always Follow the Party

青春百年路，永远跟党走

张钰若

2022 is the year that the Communist Party of China will hold its 20th National Congress. The best way to welcome the Congress is to strengthen the belief of the majority of young people to follow the party and make contributions to the new era. The theme of my speech today is "a hundred years of youth, always follow the party". I’ll share that from three perspectives which are cultivation of mind, ability and morality.

2022年将召开党的二十大，坚定广大青年听党话跟党走、建功新时代的信念，是对二十大的最好迎接方式。今天我的演讲主题是“青春百年路，永远跟党走”。我将从三个方面与大家分享我的看法——修心、修能、修德。

Firstly, I want to talk about cultivation of mind, which means improving political literacy and firming up ideals and convictions. Looking back on the history of the Centennial youth movement, the call of the party is the beacon to guide the youth forward, and the needs of the motherland and the people are the source of the youth's power. Supported by the firm ideals and convictions of "striving for the rise of China", generations of young people have closely followed the party and fought tenaciously, hard and unremittingly for the realization of the Chinese nation's rise, prosperity and strength.

首先我想谈的是修心，提高政治素养、坚定理想信念。回顾百年青年运动史，党的召唤就是指引青年前行的灯塔，祖国和人民的需要就是青年行动力之源。在为中华之崛起而奋斗的坚定理想信念支撑下，一代又一代青年紧跟着党，为实现中华民族站起来、富起来、强起来而顽强奋斗、艰苦奋斗、不懈奋斗。

President Xi Jinping said many times, "You will accomplish something significant in life if you integrate your ambitions into the cause of your country and its people." For me, I worked in a foreign corporation after graduation. So improving political literacy is particularly important to me and is also a big difference that I felt in the new working environment. In the past year, the company has organized many Party-building activities, from the chorus competition of the centenary of the Communist Party of China, to the theme day of Party history education in Yan'an, and then to assorted Party history learning and education meetings. In this process, I learned and experienced with my colleagues, and strengthened my faith as well. In 2022, the company's development space will be further expanded. As the backbone of reform and development, we must still adhere to "political firmness and ideological guidance", be firm and confident, forge ahead, and help the corporation fully act on the new development philosophy to pursue high-quality development.

习近平总书记多次指出：“只有把人生理想融入国家和民族的事业中，才能最终成就一番事业。”对于毕业后便在外企工作的我而言，提升政治素养显得尤为重要，也是新的工作环境让我感受到的一大不同。过去的一年，公司组织了多次党建活动，从建党百年合唱比赛，到红色主题教育活动，再到党史学习教育总结会议，在这个过程中，我与同事们共同学习、体验并坚定信念。2022年公司发展空间将进一步扩大，作为改革发展的中坚力量，我们应当继续坚持政治坚定、思想引领，坚定自信，锐意进取，共同推动新发展理念的贯彻落实，实现公司高质量发展。

In addition to cultivation of mind, that of ability is also essential. Cultivation of ability requires young people practicing hard and improving our professional skills. "Young people are in the accumulation stage of life and need to absorb knowledge like a sponge." As contemporary Chinese young people, we should cherish our time, use our youth to obtain new knowledge, create achievements, and train scientific thinking methods and skills consciously. I feel that deeply in my work, because my major is not finance-related, therefore, my daily work is full of challenges, and always has new knowledge to me to understand and utilize, whether in the general management department when I joined the company, or in the risk management department currently. What I could do is to combine the needs of the company’s development and the reality of my jobs, focus on what I do, and learn what I lack. Learn with questions, from books, experts and colleagues, to foster my professionalism and create benefits.

除了修心，修能也非常重要，苦练过硬本领、提高专业能力。“青年处于人生积累阶段，需要像海绵汲水一样汲取知识”。当代青年应该珍惜时间，把青春用于获得新知，创造功绩，自觉培养科学的思维方法和思维能力。在工作中，我对此感受颇深。我的专业并不是金融相关，因此无论是在入职时的综合管理部，还是在现在的风险部，每天的工作对我都充满挑战，总有新的知识需要我去了解和运用，我能做的就是结合公司发展需要和工作岗位实际，干什么学什么、缺什么补什么，带着问题学、向书本学、向专家学、向同事学，从而提升自身专业素养、创造效益。

And finally, last but not least, I want to talk about cultivation of morality, which includes cultivating noble sentiments and leading the healthy social conduct. President Xi Jinping emphasized that "A person needs to set the political virtue, maintain good public virtue, and strictly guard the individual virtue." That is to serve the country, serve the people with dedication, and be cautious about self-discipline. It reminds me of a colleague in the company - Yang Yongzhan. He is a Party member and a registered volunteer. He always performs all his duties conscientiously, and is strict with himself. In daily life, he once volunteered to dredge the traffic on the road and sign up for community volunteers during the lockdown time. The power of example around me let me know that we should maintain self-respect, self-examination and self-warning, we should stand by professional ethics and serve society with dedication and awareness of assuming primary responsibilities. Ensure that our young employees can grow up together with the company in a healthy way.

最后我想谈的是修德，涵养高尚品德、引领风气之先。习近平总书记指出:“一个人要明大德、守公德、严私德”，就是要心怀报国之心报效祖国、奉献之心服务人民、律己之心慎微慎独。这让我想起了公司的一位同事——杨勇战，他是一名党员，也是一名注册志愿者。工作中他兢兢业业，对自己严格要求；生活中他曾在马路上疏导交通，也曾在疫情封控期间主动报名社区志愿者。身边同事的榜样力量告诉我们要牢记自重自省自警，要有奉献精神和敢为人先的责任担当，坚守职业道德、履行社会责任。确保我们这些青年员工能与公司共同健康成长。

President Xi Jinping once said "Young people are full of vitality and dreams. They are the leaders and builders of the future. The future of the world belongs to the young generation. If global youth have ideals and responsibilities, mankind will have hope, and there will be an endless stream of powerful forces to promote the noble cause of world’s peace and development." The great era is calling for us, the brilliant career is looking forward to us. We should particularly amass energy and enthusiasm for creating a better chapter of the company, and remember that the future of the youth, needs continue to follow the Party.

习近平总书记强调，“青年最富有朝气，最富有梦想，是未来的领导者和建设者”。世界的未来属于年轻一代。全球青年有理想、有担当，人类就有希望，推进人类和平与发展的崇高事业就有源源不绝的强大力量。伟大时代召唤着青年，辉煌事业期待着青年。我们更应坚持未来青春路，永远跟党走，把青春激情和活力集聚为推动公司又好又快发展的蓬勃力量。
